Thank you for choosing me to capture your little bundle of joy!
Everything you need to know for your newborn session.
Our Newborn Session
Early days—slow, fleeting, full of love. Sessions are calm, natural, and baby-led. No need for perfection; I’ll guide you to relax and enjoy.
Before you arrive If you’re able to, a full feed just before your session (or right on arrival) can really help your baby feel settled and sleepy as we begin. That said, every baby is different — there’s always time for extra feeds and cuddles during your session, and we’ll gently follow your baby’s lead throughout
What to expect on the day
When you arrive, we’ll start gently. I’ll guide you into comfortable, natural poses — nothing forced or overly staged. I aim to capture your baby as they are and the quiet, meaningful moments between you as a family.
A little tip for a smooth and relaxed session
We usually begin with your family and sibling photos while everyone is fresh and settled. If you have little ones, they can sometimes become tired or restless after this part (which is completely normal!). Many families find it helpful for one parent to take toddlers or young children out for a walk, snack, or little outing nearby while we continue with your newborn’s individual photos. This allows the studio to stay calm and quiet for your baby, and helps the session flow more smoothly and efficiently. Of course, this is completely optional — we’ll always go with what feels best for your family on the day.
What to wear
I recommend keeping things simple, soft and neutral. Beige and brown tones work best — think light hues, natural textures, and pieces that feel comfortable and timeless. For women and little girls, a lovely dress is ideal. For men and boys, a shirt with chinos or shorts always works well. The goal is to keep the focus on connection rather than distraction. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to help guide you with outfit options.
What to bring
You don’t need much I have everything here ready for your baby. You’re welcome to bring: – Extra nappies and wipes – A dummy (even if you don’t usually use one — they can be helpful during settling) – A feed for baby – Snacks or small activities for toddlers
Make a little morning of it
If one parent heads out with little ones, there are some beautiful, relaxed spots nearby to enjoy while you wait:
Point 202 Cafe – a cosy stop for coffee or a relaxed bite, has a park across the road - 1 min drive - 4 min walk
Stony Point Pier – perfect for a gentle walk and some fresh sea air - 4 min drive
Woolleys Beach – a quiet little beach for a play or wander - 3 min drive
Somers General Store – a lovely spot for coffee, snacks, or a casual brunch - 12 min drive
Jack’s Beach Reserve/Boardwalk – beautiful boardwalks and space for little ones to explore - 4 min drive
It can make the morning feel a little more enjoyable (and gives everyone a chance to reset before heading home)
After your session
Your images are carefully selected and edited in my signature style. I take great care in creating a gallery that feels cohesive, soft and true to your story. You’ll be notified as soon as your gallery is ready to view approx. 2-3 weeks — I promise it will be worth the wait
I look forward to meeting you all on the day of our session
